I have not used forecasting in V6.1 - but In all other versions I have used the following happened. At year end - regardless of the seasonality code set at the item warehouse level, a seasonality table would be created in the JFH file for any item with the forecast flag set on. This data was often unusable - hence the opportunity to use it, if you wish, by setting the seasonality control to 'SH' for the item warehouse where the seasonality table is going to improve your forecast. (experiment with this in simulation mode) You might like to check your "seasonality used" flag in Application Control (FOR100)- If it is not set to 2, change it to 2 and try again. This may be a new feature as valid values in V4 and V5 were Y, N and H. I don't have access now to V6.0.02 - but I know it used to generate the JFH successfully. If you have run your forecasts for January your seasonality profile will be incorrect if you generate it now. There is 3 years of history in the Basis files. The seasonality control code set up in the Item/Warehouse data area is "SH", which instructs the system to use the JSH file for the item. FOR950 is supposed to create that file for the item based on history. However, reading deep into the help text on FOR950, it says that this program won't create a record for items that have a seasonality control code of 'SH'. So how does one get the system to create and use an item specific seasonality table? Incidentally, the help text at 6.02 and 6.04 for FOR950 makes no mention of the fact it won't create tables for items with the SH code. Any ideas on how to get this to work would be appreciated.
