Title: RE: configured orders and mps

We built our own process for consuming the planning bill MPS "forecast". It helped that our planning bill parent number is the configurable part number plus the letter "P".

In our case we use i2's Factory Planner instead of MRP, and put the routine into the data mapping routine, in which the net remaining MPS generates requirements, but would have preferred to have the forecast consumed within BPCS.

Subject: configured orders and mps

this is a question to bpcs users that use the mps and cfg modules. for point of reference we are on v6.0.04 mixed mode, if that is important.

we use the configurator module at order entry time to generate customer specific bills to make products. when we do this we get a unique part number generated. we also try to use the mps module to load a master schedule based upon planning bills. we enter forecasts against these mps planning bills and this generates demand for component parts which mrp plans.

but we are not able to get the customer order information about these configured items back into the mps module netted against the planning bill. we would like to see the planning bill forecast and then how many customer orders (for the configured parts) have been entered against the planning bill.

how do other companies get this information? any help or advice would be gratefully received?
