i have to agree with the statements made about erroneous cmf records, yes we get them also: negative costs, bucket zero records without any detailed cost records, multiple cost records with the same key, bucket zero records that are not the sum of the other cost buckets. we are on v6.04 and i have sent several of these problems into the help desk. whether they have all been fixed or not i don't know. you might want to look at the cst500/cst600 for any bmr activity. we wrote our own program to run through the cmf records and clear out the illogical ones. this has helped us a lot! one thing that i can state from experience is WHATEVER YOU DO, DO NOT LET TWO COST ROLL-UPS EXECUTE AT THE SAME TIME. IF YOU DO, YOU'LL LOOKING AT MULTIPLE CMF RECORDS WITH THE SAME KEY! chick doe barton instrument systems >>> MacWheel99@aol.com 11/11/00 08:17AM >>> > If there are duplicate records in CMF (Don't know why they get created) Check CIC ... we have garbage records in both CMF & CIC & they are often for the same items ... CIC gets the garbage then passes it along to CMF. CIC is supposed to get records added when there is activity that belongs in MRP or costing ... people sometimes make mistakes, so there is also stuff there thanks to all mistakes ever made. Cleaning up garbage in files can eliminate a host of problems - check BPCS_L archives for more clues. Do not rely exclusively on vanilla BPCS to check your records. We have a phenomena we call "invisible costs" ... records invisible to CST100, that normally go undiscovered until we are purging the system of obsolete parts. Usually they are bucket-zero records (total of all other buckets) in which there are no other buckets. We are facility specific but we have tons of CIC & CMF records with no facility. We have negative costs (do not know what causes this - need to journal), usually in previous levels, that we clean up periodically - I have no idea what consequences negative costs have on various BPCS programs.
