  • Subject: SSA Responds to V8 ( was: BOUNCE Message too long (>10000 chars))

Folks,

I haven't had time to attend to my "bounces" lately, and just found this.
The author was Peter Greenfield and the post regarded my comment that we had
not been asked about V8. It was too long due to his quoting my long winded
self and the inclusion of more of that MIME stuff. My comments are inline...

I meant that no input was solicited from members of this group. At least
none that spoke up in opposition to your quoted statement of mine. I would
submit that if your "Global Guide Groups" didn't include a single one of the
nearly 400 member companies of this list (who obviously are Internet-savvy
enough to find it and become members), you're listening to the wrong people.
If you'll remember, similar focus groups demanded V5 yet did not demand that
it be Y2K compliant. You cannot be "vertical" to everyone, nor can you
please all of them.

We can only hope.

We shall.

Genyphyr and yourself have already done quite a bit to dispel criticism of
SSA. As I said, a lack of information generates doubt and foments rumor.
You will note that we often refer people to OGS here, and concur that BPCS-L
should not be the ultimate stop for up-to-date information about BPCS.

If I might get on my soapbox and make a suggestion about the latter, IMHO.
Other than the FTP site (which requires an ID and password), there is nothing
on the client version of OGS that would directly benefit someone that wasn't
paying their license fees. However, such nonpaying clients might see what is
available in the way of BMR's there and decide to buy in to receive the
benefits. Why not open up the BMR scanning function to everyone? You might
just pick up a few more "paying customers"...

Regards!
