Martha,

We do have out ATP configured for A/P to accept journals in error.  We also 
have the A/P events set up to review before posting.  This has allowed A/P 
to verify before processing any errors to the G/L.  Any issues they are 
unable to resolve (ie posting last month and the month is closed),  will 
post in error and the plant accountants will resolve the issue. (ie open 
the period, post the one event then reclose the period).

This seems to work for us.
