There was a thread a few days ago about the Love Letter virus in which Dave
Shea posted a wonderful little essay on closing the barn door on this kind of
VBS threat by adjusting the defaults on Window Scripting, then someone at
SSAX (I now forget who) asked for a web site reference on where these facts
came from so we could check it out further & possibly link our own help desk
efforts to a useful site. Here is something I got from Symantec's Norton
Anti-Virus Containment effort.

Title: 'How to uninstall the Windows Scripting Host'
Document ID: 2000050512031906
Web URL:
http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/nav.nsf/docid/2000050512031906&src=w

And incidentally, I still have not managed to get My Computer & Control Panel
back in business yet, but Ask Symantec is giving me a stream of things to try
out.
