Hi Dwight, I think the message is telling you that there is a problem with one line on your journal (line #7783). This is most likely caused by an invalid segment in the GCR file. In other words, someone inactivated a segment during the year figuring they would never post to it again. The problem is that the year-end entry posts to all accounts. When trying to post to the G/L using BTP, you may post to a segment that has not been setup yet. In that case, the segment will be invalid. If you later add the correct segment the GCR will still indicate that the segment string is invalid. In that case, you will have to correct the GCR file to show that the combination is valid as follows: Change flag to Valid (CRSTAT=0) Add correct description (CRDESC) Chance Acct Type (CRATYP) 1 = Asset 4 = Liability 5 = Equity 3 = Sales 2 = COGS & Expenses If you change your filter to look at event 0 through 999, I'll bet you will see your journal entry in the Maintain events section. If you need further help, please leave me a voice mail message. I met you last year on the trial balance. --Paul Holstein iWork Software, L.L.C. ----Original Message Follows---- From: "Dwight Slessman" <dslessman@nationalelectrical.com> Reply-To: BPCS-L@midrange.com To: "BPCS Mailing List" <BPCS-L@midrange.com> Subject: Problem transferring account balances for new year Date: Tue, 1 Feb 2000 22:12:44 -0500 I sure hope someone can help me out. We are on BPCS Mixed Mode 6.0.04 on the AS/400. We have been live on BPCS for a little over a year now. I am attempting to create the beginning balances and make the retained earnings posting. The transfer fails and in the process monitor I have a message that "At least one Segment must contain a value on Journal Line 0007783." The message ID is UMG3002. The file/server name is CEA900B. This message is all well and good but I cannot find any journal entry to fix. Where does this go? I am in a bit of a pinch and need to get the beginning balances in there but I cannot find out what the problem is. Any help out there from you CEA gurus????
