I have successfully implemented BPCS FOR in over a dozen sites. They were
quite different operationally and relied on the Forecasts to drive MRP and
DRP. In each case they reduced RM and FG Inventory and increased the level
of Customer Service, in one case to 100% month after month (with high
stock-turns as well). For the this reason I have a lot of faith in the FOR
product - its forecasts are as accurate as any other package. With astute
use of the alpha smoothing factors and other procedural activity I would
dare to say it is very accurate.
It has an internal "statistical" performance measurement report which is,
in my opinion, the only way to measure forecast accuracy.

Thank you very much for responding. We currently are doing forecasting,
using
a product we are not totally satisfied with. We too, downloaded/uploaded
files
. The data is not the problem, the PC software itself is not very
efficient and
not the least bit user friendly. We have been using it for 2 years now and
we
are looking to simplify the process currently in place. Using BPCS
forecasting
does appeal to us because it is at the higher level. We feel we can slice
and
dice based on information currently in our files. We have also developed
another tool for drilling down in sales in about any way imaginable
utilizing
Delphi.

We were mostly curious as to the validity and/or accuracy of forecast
generated
by BPCS. We are using with IWORK, formerly SSA Southeast, Barry Robins is
the
person I met with yesterday. He was most helpful in determining the setup
parameters.

Again, many thanks for the in depth answer. I really appreciate it. Makes
it
so much easier when someone else has used or is using the product.
