Rosalie, We are also on V6.0.04 and experience locked records on a daily basis. Most of our locked records are due to PC lock-ups in Invoice Entry (ACP500). The PC locks up in the middle of keying an invoice and you cannot back out of A/P or use any other application on the PC. The only choice is to reboot the machine. Not only does this affect the invoice you are keying currently, but it locks the journal entries related to every invoice keyed in that batch. We have instituted a daily routine to verify these "locked" records. We run invoice listings on the vendor to determine the status in the subsystem. This is important because the problem is increasingly complicated if an incomplete invoice goes through the payment process. We then make sure the appropriate journal entry is developed in CEA. This is a very complex matrix of "if this is true, then you should see this . . .". We then unlock and post the journal entries that made it to Maintain Events. We have reported the lock up issue to SSA several times and have seen some improvement since we upgraded from 6.0.02 to 6.0.04 but it is still a daily occurrence. We have not received any fixes specifically for lock ups. Please let me know if you would like more information regarding how we treat our lock ups. As I said before, most of our lock ups are caused by the A/P subsystem but we also see them frequently in Account Inquiry and occasionally in Events Processing. We are not currently using the A/R subsystem. Other departments in our company experience them also such as Purchasing and Mfg Data Management. ---------- From: Rosalie@omnia.co.za[SMTP:Rosalie@omnia.co.za] Sent: Tuesday, November 02, 1999 8:03 AM To: BPCS-L@midrange.com Subject: LOCKED RECORDS We are running V6.04 and are currently experiencing a problem with records being locked in the GHH file thereby preventing them from being posted to CEA. This appears to be random with some records from ACR & ACP being the main culprit areas, and this is a new problem which has only been happening for the past 2 weeks. We are manually unflagging the records but I want to know what would cause them to lock in the first place and how to prevent this.
