some suggestions from Al Mac at Tim's work PC ____________________________________________ From: Lacelle, Marc <LACELLE@rcmint.ca> >Hi Ho. > > AS/400 Bpcs 6.02 MM AS/436 V4R3 BPCS 405 MM Greetings I think what you want is to look at prompt screen logic ... how does the outer program know that the user took this command or that command or ENTER or some other keyboarding? There is some kind of hand shake like between DDS & RPG that is easier to do in some computer languages than others. If you can find where SSA's program reacts to F14 & somehow pass to that program the simulation of a parameter representing what an end user might have done ... I do not know if I would want to do any mucking with how SSA's BPCSMENU program works. It might be useful to step thru all the garbage that some users do not want on their screens during the sign-on process. Key Password etc. (or use a Play Key short cut) & get SIGN ON INFO (intruder update & last time we were here, as if we did not know that) We can bypass the sign-on QDSPSGNINF default via a setting in the user profile One less screen of almost null value needing enter key or F3 MSGQ --- ALLOCATED TO ANOTHER SIGN-ON I get this all the time because I use multiple sessions with the same user-id BPCS LOGO Bulletin Board .. we use ZPA header line from early in SYS800 for rapid changes in soft "messages" to everyone like "This week is end-of-month" At this point we can F14 to SSAZ99 or press ENTER for those of us who have "User Menus" from which we can get to any BPCS menu if we know its name & in some cases the names are on our menus, or take the F14 route. Pressing the ENTER key takes us no where. I suspect that different users might have different menus that they would want their setup arrangements to take them straight to what they use 95% of the time, so if there is a way to call the BPCSMENU program from an outer program that passes to it a simulation of user keystrokes, there might be great value in various different users at sign-on being taken directly to their "home" menu. Once upon a time I had an interest in an IBM SDA menu from which some users might connect with one of several environments, but this can get messy with security setup & risk of people losing track of where they are. *SIGNOFF as user second action from sign-on is much cleaner than teaching them what to do if they accidentally F3 out of BPCS. We now have what we call the "E" or "Educational Environment" in which people sign-on to it by adding an "E" to the end of their user-name. In my case "AL" is my normal sign-on, with "ALE" to get into the "E" environment. > Does anyone have any suggestions on how to automate the Enter Key. > > I have a CL that calls my environment (call bpcs###/bpcsusr). > This brings me to the main menu with the BPCS logo. I would like my >CL to bring me into BPCS. > I can't figure out how to write a CL for the Enter key. > What are the parms that are passed when you press Enter or are there >any objects being called when you press enter. > > Thanks. > >Marc Lacelle >Royal Canadian Mint I do not know answer to your inquiry - I am merely providing some suggestions on how to procede. Forget ENTER key, go with F14.
