We also used to experience this problem with both COM and OLM on 6.0.02PLF (we run on an S20 AS/400 with everything on TCP/IP). We put in place a number of fixes: 1. Ensure that the BPCS deamons (SSATCP) run in their own subsystem (we called it BPCSCS) 2. Create a new storage pool for the subsystem and keep this for client/server tasks only 3. Create ORDERPOST and CEAPOST job queues and change OEAMNU and the ORDERPOST job description accordingly (we also created an OLMPOST) 4. For users running across a telephone line, WAN or the Internet change the timeout to 240 seconds instead of 120. 5. Ensure all clients have at least 32Mb We achieved the above with help from SSA and now rarely experience timeout problems. We have very few PCs with more than 32Mb so I am not sure that 64Mb would make much difference - From our own experience I would say that the server is the most likely cause of the problem although the network can contribute to it as well (point 4 above).
