Thanks for the comebacks. They were all very good suggestions, and ones I thought of also. But the REAL answer was this. 1. Go to Syntax sets. 2. Select option 2 to change 'X12', press Enter 3. On screen EDI106-02, Page down one time. 4. At "Functional Group Start Data Segment, put the cursor under the 'G' of 'GS', and press Cmd14. 5. This brings up screen 106-05. Edit the last entry...Component 480 from '*' to and '8' - Defined at Message Agreement. Press Enter, twice. I sure missed that in the manuals. Must be a page missing. Go to trading partner maintenance and select option 9 (Message Agreements). Then you will have to add an entry for the 850 message. I think you will need to specify the standard set, eg ANSI X12, the message type, eg 850, and the version. You will also need to specify the conversion program that will be used to map the data into you application on the detail panel +--- | This is the BPCS Users Mailing List! | To submit a new message, send your mail to BPCS-L@midrange.com. | To subscribe to this list send email to BPCS-L-SUB@midrange.com. | To unsubscribe from this list send email to BPCS-L-UNSUB@midrange.com. | Questions should be directed to the list owner: dasmussen@aol.com +---
