  • Subject: New Vendor? for Win BPCS

Is it reasonable to assume that SSA, like Microsoft, will eventually provide
just about any enhancements that might come form 3rd party offerings, so our
best motivation to consider alternatives is that we can't wait an unknown
number of years for stuff that will help our productivity in the near term?

I got this out of one of the news 400 e-newsletters

  * D&E Support Professionals ( http://www.desp.com ) launches C/S
Enterprise Advantage, a Windows inquiry tool for SSA's AS/400 BPCS
enterprise resource planning system that displays more information
than currently available via BPCS screens. Additional data - such
as descriptive information about coded fields, extended costs, and
transaction user names - can be displayed on each of the more than
50 windows offered by Enterprise Advantage. The product uses
native TCP/IP or an APPC router to connect to the server, provides
direct access to database files using ILE RPG, and enforces
business rules on the AS/400 to minimize network traffic.
Enterprise Advantage requires BPCS 2.1 or later and V3R2 or later.
