We did what SSA is suggesting you do. We created records in BPCS files using
stock BPCS programs. Then wrote programs to convert data files from our old
system based on what BPCS put into selected files. We converted about 29 files
including RAR, ECH and ECL, HPH etc. The open files especially RAR were the
worst. Out files were too large to manually enter on the new system. I think
we brought over 4700 RAR records and 5500 ECL records. We should have spent
more time in tweaking the off load programs but did not have the clock time to
do that. We converted from non-AS/400, non-BPCS software to AS/400, BPCS full
client-server in 9 months.
