The above is 100% right.

Of course, the logical thing to do would be to call the PC Technical Helpline
or AS/400 Technical Helpline (not the application helpline) -- there are
numerous things that could cause this. Best to rule out BPCS-related ones.
Looping on the server, hard-halted server jobs, etc. will cause a PC to 'time
out' -- the question is, once it times out, does it come back? If not, then
yes, check the server jobs for errors. If it does come back and eventually
finish, then something else is wrong and it should be looked into. This is not
normal. If the server shows nothing wrong, you may want to start looking at
your network/PCs -- is it always the same people having the problem? Etc...
look for patterns and try to qualify what is happening when and to whom in
order to get to the whys. There are also work files, and error files like ZEF
that should not be large...if the ZEF file is large that has been known to
cause time outs. There were also many looping problems in 6.0.04 order entry,
which have been BMR'd. ORD711B needs to be set up to run whenever the system
comes back up after being down for backups, IPL or whatever -- if parallel
processing is being used. This is only documented in special instructions that
came with the BMR -- ( 37221?) if you did not read them, then get a copy from
the Helpline and follow the instructions, or stop using parallel processing
until you do.
