You might want to try using SFC350 Material/Capacity Availability.  You can
enter the parent item and the qty required and it will explode the BOM for
you.  Any component with an asterisk indicates that the qty will cause an
shortage for that component. This works in version 4.02 and 6.02.  (In ver
4.02 it actually highlights the line.)

The question is:  Does anyone know a way to explode (implode?) the BOM at
Order Entry time to determine if the raw material component needed to make
the finished good product ordered is in stock?
