We are a make-to-order company and most items are specific to a particular
customer. Recently, we cutover to 6.004 CS single byte (some of you may
remember we were using 6.02 double byte - long story) using PUR, CEA, INV
modules. The next phase of our project is implementing BOM and COM including
MRP/MPS. We didn't use BOM,COM or MRP/MPS on the previous version of BPCS,
so this is all brand new.

The question is: Does anyone know a way to explode (implode?) the BOM at
Order Entry time to determine if the raw material component needed to make
the finished good product ordered is in stock?

We can check to see if the finished good item is in stock, of course, but
that's unlikely since we keep very little FG inventory. The JIT module will
let you track the parent item through the production cycle, but it's
unlikely that the item is currently being produced since it's probably only
produced for this customer. That's as close as we've gotten to an answer so
we would appreciate any information y'all can give.

Thanks and Happy Holidays!
