Hello mgraziano, Yes you are right - BPCS has always ignored all the subsequent information in the security files if the user is type 'S' (except briefly in V5). For the 'U' type user it will be building a matrix at signon, and yes you can improve the performance of this by creating a logical or an SQL index over the ZXO file - this is usually quite large as it contains a record for each object within BPCS (used to be the ZSO file). You'll probably need to create this index by XOMENU, XOSYS, XORELN - but if you run the DBMON job it will tell you exactly what key to use. Obviously the more complicated the BPCS security set-up the slower it will be anyway. Hope this helps, Clare mgraziano@badgermeter.com on 24/09/98 13:00:54 Please respond to BPCS-L@midrange.com To: BPCS-L@midrange.com cc: (bcc: Clare Holtham/UK/SSA_EUROPE) Subject: BPCS 6.04 Security Does anyone have a matrix of how BPCS 6.04 security works. It seems that if the user is tagged as S then it does not check any further. If the user is U then the signon screen sometimes takes 1 minute. Could it be a logical file issue?? +--- | This is the BPCS Users Mailing List! | To submit a new message, send your mail to BPCS-L@midrange.com. | To subscribe to this list send email to BPCS-L-SUB@midrange.com. | To unsubscribe from this list send email to BPCS-L-UNSUB@midrange.com. | Questions should be directed to the list owner: dasmussen@aol.com +--- +--- | This is the BPCS Users Mailing List! | To submit a new message, send your mail to BPCS-L@midrange.com. | To subscribe to this list send email to BPCS-L-SUB@midrange.com. | To unsubscribe from this list send email to BPCS-L-UNSUB@midrange.com. | Questions should be directed to the list owner: dasmussen@aol.com +---
