That's right, Bob. EGL simply generates HTML.

Of course, there can be some issues with browser compatibility, especially as you being to use more JavaScript. That's one of the reasons that JavaScript frameworks are becoming so popular - they tend to insulate you from things like browser incompatibilities that you would otherwise have to handle yourself were you to build your own frameworks from scratch.

So, even if you don't go the EGL route and you choose to use something like PHP or RPG-CGI to generate your HTML, I recommend that you research the various JavaScript frameworks and choose the one that best suits your application. I guarantee you do NOT want to hand-code cross-browser JavaScript.
