Ouch! And I hate to add insult to injury, but I'm assuming your annual SWMA
will go up pretty dramatically as well.

Strangely, I was just at the Toronto User Group meeting today with many/most
of the folks involved in developing/managing these products from Rational.
When the subject of price came up, they quoted the US prices.

Of course, someone in the audience asked about Canadian prices and no one
there seemed to know the answer. Or maybe no one wanted to be the one to say
it to that group of Canadian customers :-)

It is hard to understand a 16% price difference with virtually no difference
in the value of the dollar. Maybe someone is expecting a major US$ rebound!

With the Canadian dollar being around parity with the US for a while, I
was expecting the prices to be a bit closer,
RDi or ADTS is 925 here (+16%).
For us, with around 60 developers, the upgrade would be somewhere
between 120 k$ to 230 k$, taking into account the 20 licenses for our
P40 processor group, not an insignificant amount.

Brian, Joe, et al,

I'm no good at interpreting announcement letters. But I was also at "the
meeting" and I believe that both RDi and RDi SOA can be purchased either
via
Passport Advantage OR via your i5/OS LPPs. I see 2 product numbers for
each
of them: one as an LPP and one as a Passport Advantage product.

I don't know whether how your purchase it impacts SWMA because there are
SWMA charges on host-based LPPs as well as Passport Advantage products.
Regardless of how your purchase them, they are user priced, so I believe
the
SWMA would be per seat in either case and as far as I know, it will be the
same price - as you say probably around 20%.

I don't think pricing for RDi SOA has been announced yet. It was hinted
that
the pricing for RDi SOA is probably about a month away. RDi SOA includes
RDi
plus some web tooling (e.g., web services program call wizards) and does
bundle RBD.

Pricing for RDi is announced and in the US is $795 per seat. The green
screen ADTS tools are also priced at $795 per seat. If you a developer
needs
both, you can do the math.
