  Don,

Success! I downloaded the latest Sun JVM, j2re1.4.2_07.

Then I changed my WDSC start up to:
"C:\Program Files\IBM\WebSphere Studio\Site Developer\v5.1\wdsc.exe"
-feature com.ibm.wdsclient -vm C:\Java\j2re1.4.2_07\bin\javaw.exe -vmargs -Xverify:none -Xoptimize -Xms128m -Xmx384m

Also changed wdsc.ini to comment out the VMArgs=-Xj9 parm.

My coworker who originally has this working spent a few hours a couple of
months ago trying to get all the Java applications on his machine to use
the same JVM. The WDSC instructions came from an article in Midrange
  Guru, Volume 3, Number 75 on November 7, 2003.

Incidentallty, when I installed the JRE it put it into Program Files. I
could not get the -vm parameter to accept the blank, even after using ",
', '' and ''' around it. I finally must moved the whole Jave directory to
  the root.
