Why is this an either-or? Make the editor better AND allow users to
uninstall plug-ins. After all, IBM is supposed to be handling the editor,
and Eclipse handling the plug-ins. It should be different sets of
developers, right?

Picture my hands doing a "balancing scale" effect ...

Make editor better .... allow users to remove plugins
Make editor better .... allow users to remove plugins
Make editor better .... allow users to remove plugins
Make editor better .... allow users to remove plugins
Make editor better .... allow users to remove plugins
Make editor better .... allow users to remove plugins
Make editor better .... allow users to remove plugins
Make editor better .... allow users to remove plugins

Not a hard decision.

Mark
