I tried this on a test system with WDSC Advanced and WSAD 5.1.1 and it did
not go so well. I do not remember the exact problems now, but they were
severe enough for me to not consider it possible.

If you think it should work, then I will try it again. I have VMWare on
my PC so it is pretty easy to test this safely.

I do not use the debugger or web components so if they are the only known
problems I would like to try it. There are some fixes for bugs I reported
in the Eclipse version included with 5.1.1 so I would like to use it if
possible.

Thanks

Mark

Fw: [WDSCI-L] Internal version of WAS/JDK 1.4

Stu, there is no direct way to update the internal version of WAS in WDSC
to 5.1 ...
that will come in our next release. In the meantime, if you can't wait,
if
you can get
hold of WSSD 5.1.1 (yes, you'll probably have to buy it, unless you are a
IBM BP,
in which you are probably entitled to a single copy anyway) then you can
slip
install it ... as long as you install it on a machine that already has
WDSC
5.1.0
installed then installing it has the effect of upgrading the underlying
copy of WSSD
to 5.1.1, which does support WAS 5.1.

One known problem with this, I think, is that it causes our debugger some
grief,
although I believe we are looking for a way to fix this. Another one I
think is that
the iSeries Web Components (these are parts in their own palette when
building
web pages) don't work with 5.1 (yet). However, if you used these, you'd
already
have discovered that when running on 5.1 WAS :-)

Is there a way to upgrade the internal version of Websphere Application
Server in WDSc to WAS 5.1 (i.e. to run WAS with JDK version 1.4)?

TIA

Stu
