You of all people Steve must know by now that there is no "IBM" in this sense.

The compilers are sold by a "company" called Rational. The OS is sold by Rochester. The hardware by Austin. To all intents and purposes they are separate companies.

IBM is not alone in this - similar things happen with Microsoft and I'm sure with Oracle and others.

The question should be "Can Rational sell enough extra license of RPG to pay for the development?"

If the answer to that is no then the next question is can Rochester and/or Austin sell enough extra copies of the OS and/or hardware to pay Rational to do the work.

Given the response of some on this list to the fact that they have even bothered enhancing RPG at all I don't see it happening - do you?
