If ISODATE is really a date field, then converting it to character is
unnecessary. I was assuming that ISODATE was a numeric in my previous
response.

This will convert a date value to a decimal value.
MDYDATE=%dec(ISODATE:*mdy)

Thanks
This approach worked.
Seems more confusing, but I guess I'll get used to it.

If isodate is a date field, this will work from V5R2 on:

MDYDATE = %dec(%char(ISODATE:*mdy0):6:0); // D'ccyy-mm-dd' to
mmddyy

This is probably simple to do, but I'm struggling.

I converted an existing program to Free, however, this didn't
convert.

How do I convert this ?

C *ISO Move CMSTART ISODATE
C *MDY Move ISODATE MDYDATE

ISODATE is defined in my D specs
MDYDATE is a field defined in my Display file 6.0 using a 'Y' edit
code.

Thanks
Mike
