Recently we discussed that you can "cheat" around using null indicators on
your select into's simply by using COALESCE. COALESCE basically says if
this field is null put this default value into it. SELECT MYCHAR,
COALESCE(PastDue,0) into :ThisField, :ThatField where thekey=:thiskey
And those that really want to check for a null versus a default value that
may be misleading can do so, if you are using nulls. They can use the
null indicators
SELECT MYCHAR, PastDue into :ThisField, :ThatField :IsThatFieldNull where
thekey=:thiskey
Notice no comma between :ThatField and :IsThatFieldNull?

Update myfile set Mychar=:ThisField, PastDue=:ThatField :IsThatFieldNull
where thekey=:thiskey

Whether it's worth it is subjective.
