PC programs do not understand '0001-01-01' as NULL.

If your table will have fields without any known value (wich is quite
usual), go ahead and use null capable fields. That is what they are
for. Nothing will do the job better.

Your only trouble may come from "experienced" as/400 programmers that
are still in the old as/400.

Good Afternoon,
I am working with a new table design and wonder about the wisdom of
using Null capable fields in the design.

Is it worth the trouble making fields Null capable and if so how do you
handle the fields in a Select Into or an Update operation operation.

I know I will need Null indicators and such but I wondering if it is
worth it.

Thanks
