On Unix systems, I use Ghostscript for this sort of thing. Ghostscript runs in PASE on the iSeries, and is able to read PDF or PostScript input and convert it to all sorts of different printer languages.

Some day I'll get around to writing something (preferably in RPG) that helps integrate it with iSeries software. When I do, I'll probably write an article about it.

QIMGCVTI is only usable if you have an exit program that understands PDF input... I imagine that this intended to work with IBM's InfoPrint Server, or whatever that licpgm is called that they sell for working with PDFs on the iSeries... Maybe useful to you, but not to me.

Hi Richard,

at present we print PDF from PC. There are many tools that
do that job; most of them use Acrobat engine and are free.

However I was interested to see if there is a way to do it
all on the iSeries.

I've heard about QIMGCVTI.

Or maybe converting PDF to Postscript (for example with
xpdf open source that could possibly run in Pase) and then
to PCL.

I posted just to see if someone would share some knowledge
    (and/or some code).

Giuseppe.
