RE: alarm() not working as expected

uuhhh.  So instead of 
if        errno = EINTR)

my if statement should be change to 

if        recvLen <= 0 and (errno = EINTR).

I going give that a try.

As far as I know, the system never resets errno.  The only time the
value of errno changes is when the next error occurs.

Therefore, you should only look at the value of errno when an API
returns
-1 to indicate that an error has occurred.  Don't use errno to determine
IF an error occurred, only to determine WHICH errror has occurred.
