RPG IV does not currently support the ALIAS field names.

RPG IV, in my experience, has a tendancy to force you to use the short
names, especially when using the F spec and externally describe files.

However I can a least show you how to create working storage variables
using long names.

Code the D spec as follows.

D A_29_character_long_field_name...
D                  S              10A

Use free form in order to reference it in the calc specs.

I'm using DDS ALIAS keyword, which provides the alternative long column
name for the short name provided in the DDS.
DDS manual goes to say that iSeries HLLs have knobs in them, which
determine which name is used in the program. I cannot find what that
knob is in the RPG! Anyone out there know what RPG syntax is to use the
long column name?
