RE: Stupid question

I may be reading more into this than I should, correct me if I'm wrong, but
the error message that he's getting is indicating that his reference field
isn't in the source, which I assume has nothing to do with the presence (or
not) of the Subfile's Control record... Does it?

Don't you need a subfile control record also (SFLCTL)?  If you need an
example of a subfile control rec, I can post one.
