I don't know why it'd work on one system but not the other.  Are they the
same version of OS/400?

I do know that IBM recommends that you first check to see if the
encryption algorithm is available before trying to use it.  I've got an
RPG example of doing that on my Web site at the following link:
  http://www.scottklement.com/rpg/cipher/

If that doesn't help, it might make sense to ask this question on the MI
mailing list, since there are more people there who are familiar with MI
functions like _CIPHER.
