I wonder if they have a vibrate mode?  If so, hopefully that wouldn't lead 
into carpal tunnel or some such thing.  Or the first time it shakes 
someone mistaking it for a shock and dropping the danged thing.

Hey, when my pager first went off in vibrate mode I was leaning under the 
kitchen table wearing shorts looking for a hornet that was flying around. 
When it went off I first thought the hornet went up my leg.  Definitely 
got my attention.  Cracked my head on the table.

Not from the '400, no.   On the RF gun, there may be settings that let you
change the duration and volume of the beeps, however.

I know that on our RF guns (Symbol/Telxon PTC-960SL) we're able to make
the beeps much louder and longer than the defaults.
