All good thoughts.  But, in this case I should be able to
recreate the problem from the command line as well.  And I
haven't yet.  I'm working now on trying to recreate it
using a web job.  We'll see how things go.

The first program runs in QILE, and calls PGMA which runs
in *DFTACTGRP.  PGMA is the program that opens and (should)
close the files in question.

how I understand it, the file SHOULD be closed.  Because
it's not it's causing problems with data access which
probably werent thought of when this "functionality" was
added (or maybe it shouldn't and I need a PTf... <smile>)
