1) Add the file-level keyword "INVITE" to the DDS for the display file(s)
used by the program(s).

2) In the F-spec for the display file, and the MAXDEV(*FILE) keyword to the
display file.

3) When using the CRTDSPF command, in the WAITRCD parameter specify the
number of seconds allowed before the program times out on the display file.
This is your "screen timeout" value.

4) In the RPG program, use ONLY the WRITE and READ operation codes when
performing I/O to the display file. EXFMT does not support the time-out on
a read to the display file. Remember that WRITE followed immediately by a
READ is functionally the same as an EXFMT.

5) Use the READ operation against the display file (NOT the record-format
name) to get the data from the display. This READ will time out when the
specified number of seconds in the WAITRCD parameter in the display file
expires.

Hope this helps...

Subject: BOUND RPG ILE PROGRAM - Screen Time Out

> I have a bound RPG ILE program. I have two modules that are bound into one
program. I want to add a screen
> time-out to both modules. Can someone give me the quickest and simplest
method of achieving this? The emphasis on quick & simple, please. I do not
want to use the dataQ method.
