     one option is to compile the file LVLCHK(*NO).
You can only do this if you are only adding new fields to the end of the file.
Also, if any new fields are numeric, you must re-compile all programs
which write to the file (but not those which only update) otherwise you will
end up with decimal data errors later.

So long as you keep to these rules you should be ok.
