Barbara,
Look in the file information data structure, Binary 397-400 (actually signed
integer if using RPG IV)  I think you can find this information in the data
management guide.  (I have a source member containing all the positions so I
don't have to look it up anymore.)

Of course, I'd be remiss if I didn't point out that your life may be easier
if you add a logical with a unique key...
