If you are running FTP server on your AS400 you can retrieve a file using
FTP client on your PC. If you have a PC based FTP server, you can use FTP
client on the AS400 to send the file to the PC server. FTP does not allow
for record selection so you may want to copy to a temporary file on the
AS400 selecting the records and fields you want. The old fashion way is to
CPYTOPCD. That will create a PC file in the AS400 folder.

Hope this gets you thinking.

Subject: Transfer Data from Physical file to PC format

Hi
I want to transfer all or selected number of data records residing in a
physical file to PC format. I don't want to use Client Access Utility.
Is there any command or API by which I can perform this operation?

Thanks in advance

Sanjiv Kumar Hati
