Hello Jack,

I'm saying our community is littered with antipatterns at the intersection of Unix file permissions and OS/400 authorities.

And me having a strong background in UNIX/Linux, plus having mastered access rights decades ago, was caught by surprise that OS/400 behaves differently, depending on how you change those flags.

Don't use authorities for stream files in the IFS if Unix permissions will work.

Learn to use Unix group permissions within the IFS.

If you must use authorities (almost never IMHO), K.I.S.S. applies.

I wholeheartedly agree!

:wq! PoC
