that remote server is dead. We are building a new one.
We have the mount using /s and have programs that reference /s so want to
mount the new server to the same drive /s will not let us mout the new
server with the old mount still active. Yes this is important to our
business.
yes having hard coded /s is not good but.. surprise that is on the list to
put that in a control file but low priority.

At least one time I had to do an ENDTCP. Granted, that's almost as drastic
as an IPL. But I was bringing the system down anyway.
Question: What's the urgency on resolving this? Is the server back up and
running but you need to bounce the mount? If the system is perpetually
down, what's the rat's case for resolving it now?

I have tried those commands.
I think the last time this happened to me many years ago I had to IPL the
system.
I think that is were I am at now.

Is this NFS?

My last use of NFS is over a decade old, but back in the day, if a
mount
refused to unmount and claimed busy, it was usually hung.
You may have to bounce the NFS Server

I have a mount over a drive '/s' that points to a server xxxxx. that
server crashed, in the process of fixing it. I decided to unmount
the
drive '/s'.
when I issue the unmount command I get
CPFA09E Object in use. Object is *N.

What can I do to force the unmount.
