That's how I solved it at my former employer. The Outlook client "removing extra line breaks was a killer on formatted emails.

Building the email body in HTML was a lot more work but it added so much more to the presentation and made it consistent.

The ability to present info in a formatted table was a huge leap forward.

Of course, there was the inevitable "You can do that with an AS/400?" - UGH!
