Are you actually running the SAMBA daemon ?
I have used smbclient which can be used to send/receive files without a server daemon running.
If it's not in your path, you probably don't have SAMBA installed.
Should be in /usr/sbin/smbd

I highly doubt that SAMBA is going to be in the path when you start QSH and or QPTERM. That command will be available in the proper directory for SAMBA.
Aside from that when dealing with things like SAMBA it?s most advisable to use SSH and start BASH as opposed to the old KORN shell that those two commands use. I suppose you could start BASH from QSH but not my favorite idea.
