Buzz, I sent you an email but if you don't get it, try this as a starting point.
We recently had an SMTP server issue caused by an HA/DR role swap exercise.
A couple of network adjustments were made during the process causing a partition
to not send us emails from a BRMS control group using the SNDSMTPEMM command.

Here's what we found:
First we checked this: https://www.ibm.com/support/pages/node/642573
Which led us to this: https://www.ibm.com/support/pages/smtp-server-fails-start-tcp2074

Just throwing it out there as perhaps something to look at.

subject: Non-Starting SMTP Server

We're trying to troubleshoot why the SMTP service will not stay running. It abends (level 30) and uses QDFTJOBD which we've configured to log 0 severity messages, but no joblog is found. Might there be a log somewhere out on the IFS?
