Hi Darryl

I recommend using VALUES INTO - such as this, assuming testvalue is created - used this -

create variable testvalue char(10);

The SELECT statement has to return a single row

values (select min(state) from qiws/qcustcdt) into testvalue;

That worked - what SQLCOD or SQLSTATE are you getting? Or what SQLxxxx message is in your job log?

Cheers
Vern

I am writing a SQL script that retrieves an order number from the order
header file filtered by BOL. The next statement uses the order number to
retrieve data from another file.

I have
- used CREATE VARIABLE
- Select Order into VARIABLE from table

The select fails and will not populate the VARIABLE field.

How do I achieve this?

TIA, Darryl Freinkel.
