Almost nothing on the software or driver update is disruptive. On a heavily loaded system you’ll see performance slow a bit.

A failure of the dual SAN switches at that moment might cause trouble. (Don’t ask how I know that…). So just make sure the fellow running the SAN switches does not update at the same time. That would cause an ouch.
