Is it possible that the print queue manager in the printer is having an issue with the mix between MS and IBM i ? I remember back in the day we had to disable the print queue manager in HP printers. If I remember it, MS would lock on to it and not let go, causing IBM i (then i5/OS) to not be able to connect to it.

I believe we had to make a change in the IBM i queue to let go after about 5 seconds, as well as the MS side.

Might not be the problem, but the way back machine suddenly kicked in……

It's definitely a "sometimes" problem. And we are on 7.4 of the OS. Strangely when we power cycle the printer it does seem to briefly work, and then go back to the same problem.
