In any case, I've never found a way to turn off this misfeature of
SNDSMTPEMM:
If you are TOM on LPAR FOO at example.com, your email goes to the SMTP
server as sent by tom@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Most modern SMTP servers deny subdomain email.
Your message dies a quiet death.
