The newest version of the HMC did not include some of the granularity in
security that we enjoyed in the past. For instance, we can set up users
that can stop/start only their partitions and start a console session,
however we can no longer restrict them from seeing other partitions on the
system, or all of the hardware. (Used to be able to do that)
I think IBM is talking to a very narrow group of users when doing the design
of the HMC software, and there is little or no representation from IBM i on
that panel. They asked for input at PowerUp a few years ago but the slide
was up/down so fast you could not copy down the URL. It was not in the
handout that I could find.

Wrong. You can easily create users and assign pre-created, very granular
settings in HMC which user is allowed to do *what* on *which* LPAR.
