Hi Jerry,


Yes, if you have enough room on the partition you can create another tape image catalog. Use the DUPTAP command to duplicate them all onto one volume if they fit. The maximum virtual tape size is 1TB.


Create the new tape image catalog
Create a virtual tape big enough to hold all 23 source volumes
Initialize the target volume
Use DUPTAP for example: DUPTAP FROMDEV(TAPxx) TODEV(TAPyy) FROMSEQNBR(*FIRST *LAST) TOSEQNBR(*FROMSEQ) FROMENDOPT(*UNLOAD)

The DUPTAP command will autoload all 23 volumes and duplicate them to the one target volume.

Now, how you tell virtual tape (not to be confused with a VTL) to unload one volume and load up the next while running a restricted state restore might be interesting. Maybe it does it by the volume sequence #?
