This certainly isn't Plan A for me, and would be HUGE pain for me. They
sprung this on me shortly before the deadline passed, so I scrambling to
get into compliance.
Regarding the restricted network you mentioned, are you suggesting two NICs
in the PC (one to console port and one to network)?

The inability to access that remotely of course can be a big problem.
Suppose (for the sake of argument) there was a global pandemic that
cause people to be unable to travel to the office. Unlikely I know,
however then you could not get to the console and that's an issue.
if the PC is in a restricted network that requires additional
authentication to get into that would help the requirements there and
also as Evan mentioned allow the PC to get updates periodically.
